I am working on a family genealogy project with my daughter, Katrina. We are trying to get information about her father’s family (who she has never met). His name was/is George J Kozykowski Jr. His mother’s name was/is Chizuko Tamai Kozykowski. We know little about the maternal grandmother’s family other than she was the youngest daughter, had polio as a child, was from the northern most island of Japan and her family lived somewhere near to Sapporo (that may be relative to being on the island as a reference and not really near by to where they lived) and she (Chizuko) told me that her family had been Samuri and she told me a story about their family hiding the family swords after WWII to keep from having to surrender them and that her eldest brother now has possession of them. She was one of 4 children, having 2 older brother and a sister and she told me that he brothers were very tall. I know this is a long shot but when I put the name Tamai in a websearch this is the page that I ended up with..
